The full range, in detail.

Six things we get called for most, and what each one actually involves.

Most requestedHardwood decking boards laid tight around a squared timber post
01

Decks & Outdoor Living

New decks, extensions to existing ones, walkways and landings. Hardwood or composite, framed properly, with the fall away from the house and fixings picked for a coastal climate.

  • Hardwood and composite decking
  • Bearers, joists and posts sized to the job
  • Deck extensions tied into existing structure
  • Steps, landings and walkways

Versiclad Pergolas & Patios

Versiclad pergolas, patios and awnings, freestanding or fixed to the house. Insulated panels and louvred roofs that give you shade in summer without turning the room behind them dark.

  • Versiclad insulated roofing
  • Freestanding and attached pergolas
  • Patios and awnings over decks and paving

Home Renovations

Bathrooms, ensuites, kitchens and layout changes, including partial renovations on older homes. Plenty of these run while the family is still living in the house, so the site gets cleaned up daily.

  • Bathroom and ensuite renovations
  • Kitchens and joinery fit-outs
  • Layout changes, walls and openings
  • Smaller trades handled, the rest coordinated

Stairs, Balustrades & Landings

Internal and external stairs, balustrades and handrails, built to match what is already there. External staircases get tied into an existing deck so the join does not read as an add-on.

  • External and internal timber staircases
  • Balustrades and handrails
  • Landings and platforms on sloping ground
  • Matched to existing decks and finishes

Doors, Windows & Repairs

New doors and windows, openings closed off and re-formed, plus the repair work older homes need: rotten bearers and beams, damaged framing, cladding and the trim around it.

  • Door and window supply and install
  • Openings closed off or cut in
  • Rot and structural timber repairs
  • Cladding, architraves and trim

Excavation & Site Works

Machine work on site before the build starts: benching a sloping block, digging footings and pier holes, trenching and clearing, so the structure that follows sits on ground that is ready for it.

  • Benching and levelling sloping sites
  • Footings, pier holes and trenching
  • Site clearing and spoil handling
  • Access for sheds, decks and outbuildings

Also on the list.

The smaller jobs that come up inside a renovation, handled rather than subbed out.

  • Plastering and patching

  • Brickwork
  • Built-in wardrobes
  • Cladding
  • Sheds and outbuildings
  • Carports
  • Commercial fit-outs

One deck, or a whole renovation.

Same approach either way: work out what the job actually needs, price it honestly, then build it and keep you in the loop while it happens.

Can you extend an existing deck rather than replace it?

Often, yes. It depends on the condition of the frame underneath. Tom will look at what is there and tell you straight whether it is worth building onto or starting again.

What is a versiclad pergola?

Versiclad is an insulated roofing panel system used for pergolas, patios and carports. It keeps the space underneath noticeably cooler than a single skin of steel, and it finishes neatly on the underside so there is no exposed framing.

Do you take on commercial work?

Yes. RG Carpentry PMQ does both domestic and commercial carpentry and construction.

Can you do the excavation as well as the build?

Yes. Machine work such as benching a sloping block, footings, pier holes and trenching is handled in house, so the same team preparing the site is the one building on it.
